 This map is a close up of the Southeast region of the US. Alabama and Georgia are neighboring states, just north of Florida. As you can imagine, it gets pretty darn hot in the summer. But, as you recall from the book, it can get cold enough sometimes to snow a bit. And, cold enough so that Smokey Lonesome died of exposure right outside of Whistle Stop, trying to get back to the cafe.

 This map is of Taiwan. It is in Southeast Asia. It is south of Japan, north of the Phillipines, and just across the strait from China. At the very tip top of the map you see the words Taipei -- that's where the teachers are that this site is dedicated to and the author live. It is mighty hot here, too, and it never snows. |
